COD Export Validations

Legacy Code (6 or 7) on a 2026-27 or Later Record

When a DL or TEACH record for award year 2026-27 or forward has Grade Level DoE Code 6 or 7 on the award form, block export and generate a validation. Codes 6 and 7 are not valid in Schema 5.0d. The school must update the student's grade level to one of codes 8–13 before the record can export. This scenario is most likely for students carried over from 2025-26 without a grade level update.

New Code (8–13) on a 2025-26 or Prior Record

When a DL or TEACH record for award year 2025-26 or prior has Grade Level DoE Code 8–13 on the award form, block export and generate a validation. Codes 8–13 do not exist in Schema 5.0c. Student UI prevents this at the configuration level, but COD export enforces the award year guard independently as a defense-in-depth check.

All Other Code + Award Year Combinations

Codes 0–5 on any award year, codes 8–13 on 2026-27 or later, or codes 6–7 on 2025-26 or prior: no validation triggered. Export <StudentLevelCode> with the DoE Code value in the DL or TEACH record normally.

Responsibility Split

Anthology Student

Restricts the grade level dropdown on fund source configuration by award year. UI prevents selection of codes 6 or 7 on a 2026-27 config, and prevents codes 8–13 on a 2025-26 config. Also controls the Grade Level field on the Academic Year page and Grade Level Promotion.

COD Export (Our PBI)

Enforces the award year guard independently at time of export. Reads Grade Level from the award form, validates against the record's award year, blocks on mismatch, and populates <StudentLevelCode> when valid. Defense-in-depth below the Student UI restriction.

COD Federal System

Accepts or rejects <StudentLevelCode> values per Schema 5.0d XSD constraints. Our export validation is a pre-flight guard to catch invalid codes before they reach COD and generate a federal reject the school would need to resolve.
